Before the death of Queen Elizabeth II I had been sharing thoughts on joy and happiness quoting extracts from \u201cThe Word for Today.\u201d<\/p>\n

In Mustard Seeds\u2019 \u201cwork in progress,\u201d \u201cTheophilus- The Musical\u201d there is the following interaction between Theophilus and Luke in which joy and happiness are an important element. <\/p>\n

Theophilus: spoken
\nBut that is one of the things I struggle with \u2013 how can a God of love allow all the sickness and suffering that is in the world?
\nLuke: recitative
\nMy dear friend there is so much we will never understand,
\nMy dear friend there is so much that\u2019s beyond man,
\nFor as the heavens are higher than the earth,
\nSo, God\u2019s ways are higher than our own,
\nGod is so much bigger than we all are,
\nWe should accept this and trust Him in all things,
\nAnd I do promise you God is always good even when life is so often bad,
\nAnd remember the joy that Jesus brings is not the same as happiness,
\nFor happiness depends on life\u2019s circumstances which can change just like the wind,
\nBut joy is far deeper and comes when its God on whom we depend.<\/p>\n
